Former NASCAR Driver John Wes Townley Killed In Shooting Saturday

Former NASCAR Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series regular John Wes Townley was killed Saturday according to a report from the Athens (Georgia) Banner Herald.

Townley was 31 years old.

According to the report in the Banner Herald, Townley and a 30-year old female were shot in a the Five Points area of Athens, Ga.

The story also reported that a 32-year old man known to the victims is a suspect in the shooting and police have had contact with him.

Townley ran 110 Camping World Truck Series events and 76 Xfinity Series events from 2008-2016. His lone career victory came in a Camping World Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 3 2015.
