Claremont Speedway Added To 2022 Schedule For The Whelen Modified Tour

Last week NASCAR announced the 2022 Whelen Modified Tour, but left a little drama to be determined.

The 16-event schedule announced last week included three “To Be Announced” events for July 30, Aug. 6 and Sept. 24.

Tuesday afternoon one of those mystery dates was revealed, though slightly changed.

JDV Productions announced Tuesday that the company will promote an event on July 29 at Claremont (N.H.) Speedway.

“We are eager to bring the prestige and the excitement of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour back to Claremont, New Hampshire for the first time in over a decade,” JDV Promotions owner Josh Vanada said in a release. “The long time between visits will provide an interesting challenge for those who may not have competed at the third-mile oval before. The track’s unique characteristics will put crew chiefs and drivers to the test. Fans will not want to miss this race.”

The 150-lap event will mark the third Whelen Modified Tour event at Claremont. The series made its first stop at the track in 1985 with Richie Evans winning. James Civali won the only other event at the track, in 2007.

“We are really excited to welcome the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour back to Claremont,” Claremonth promoter and operator Mike Parks said. “Having the Whelen Modified Tour is something we have been looking at doing for a while ourselves and it just wasn’t quite right for us. I’ve worked with Josh on and off for about 10 years. We communicated with each other and we felt this was the right time to work together and have JDV Productions promote the race.”

JDV Productiona will also promote events at Jennerstown Speedway (May 28) and Monadnock Speedway (June 18).

Comments

  1. JD, or whatever he goes by lately, must be ecstatic!!!

  2. I am hoping August 6th is Seekonk Speedway……

  3. Breaking News!
NWMT continues invasion of New Hampshire.
Tri Track fans told to shelter in place until further notice.

  4. Great news another New England race. Suitcase I would love to see another mod race at Seekonk. When does Stafford come out with their schedule?

  5. David Fisher says

Stafford’s schedule release promised for 11/11/21.

  6. Only makes sense to have more whelen mod shows in the home state of the tours most popular driver.

  7. Seekonk has an end of season poll on their website. One of the questions is what divisions/tours you want to see at Seekonk. One of the responses available is Nascar modified tour. So its at least on their mind over there.

  8. Thanks David. Dont have to wait much longer then. LOL Sonny

  9. I’m shocked and excited, Claremont is my home track and they’ve tried a lot of stuff in the last couple years and some of it has worked and some of it hasn’t. I appreciate the effort of trying new stuff, just hope there’s a scoreboard by then.

Some of my initial thought is about whether any local guys try to race either one of the races between Monadnock and Claremont, they tend to stick to open mod shows but maybe they try to run one of these races.

  10. Sure Seekonk, makes sense. They are a NASCAR sanctioned track and have no streaming conflicts with whomever might be streaming NWMT events in 2022.
Indeed that would be a big deal especially for the Rhody contingent a huge part of the Seekonk fan and competitor base. Love those clam fritters and stew at the Rhode Island pavilion at the Big E.

But this is RaceDayConnecticut with most eyes on Stafford who are feeding the drama about their schedule.

    Stafford teases on Facebook.
“Nov 7-ICYMI: 2022 Schedule dropping next Thursday at 12:00pm ”
“Yesterday-2022 Schedule release, this Thursday….some surprises in store”

Surprises aye…you scamps. Like Tri Track and NWMT races? Call me a drama queen I think Stafford and Tri Track are in cahoots. The CBYD bonus last year with Tri Track playing possum for now. I’m thinking for good reason.

  11. Great news for the people near Claremont, a track with lots of modified history to its name. I like the track and have seen a number of good races up there. Putting down both Friday, May 27 ( open show) and Friday, July 29 ( Whelen) for some great evenings of modified racing!!

  12. This will be the Modified version of the Phoenix race with the dogleg in turn 1, definitely a setup challenge for the teams. Last time I was there (TriTrack race) it was visually tough to tell who was fast; cars good in 3 & 4 looked slow in 1 & 2 and vice-versa. Great place to watch Modifieds! I hope Stafford doesn’t have an Open race on that date.

  13. Will Stafford announce 8/6 and 9/24 NWMT events tomorrow?

  14. I am really curious what those TBA are now that Stafford dropped their schedule which didnt have the Whelen tour on it. Be interesting to see what those TBA become now that we know it wasnt for Stafford. Or was that simply wishful thinking on Nascars part hoping Stafford would decide to work with them. Nascar will probably give a discounted show to White MTN or another facility to ensure the Nascar teams cant support the Stafford Tri track race.
