Last year Berlin teenager Sam Calvo made his debut in the Street Stock division, running nine events on the year.

Calvo became the second generation of his family to hit the track at Stafford, following in the footsteps of his dad Sal who raced in Stafford’s Late Model division in the early 1990’s.

Now the first generation is ready to join the second generation on the track.

Sal Calvo said he plans to return to the track part-time in 2022 to race with his son in the Street Stock division at Stafford.

“We started the building of our second car,” Sal Calvo said on the most recent episode of the Unmuffled podcast. “This year we’re going to be fielding two cars. At Stafford we’re going to run the second car and I’m going to be driving the second car. So we’re going to do a little father and son at Stafford, but the goal of that car is to have Sam drive that car at Thompson and Waterford later on.

“I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve loved Stafford, I love to be there. It’s a big goal for me to be able to get out there with Sam. It’s a bucket list type of thing that I’d like to do. I don’t want to race every week, I’d just like to get the car on the track, shake it down a little bit, run some races with him and then let him take the car to the next level.”
