It was a fill-in appearance that has turned into a full-time opportunity for Matt Swanson.

Late last season Stafford Speedway SK Modified division veteran Tom Bolles was feeling under the weather one Friday and reached out to Matt Swanson to run his car.

Now they will pair up as a new driver-owner combination at Stafford.

Swanson will run full-time in the SK Modified division at Stafford in 2022 in the Bolles Race Cars Inc. No. 78 car.

“Racing an SK [Modified] at Stafford every Friday, that’s like the weekly dream for any Modified racer in the Northeast just because of the program that Stafford puts on,” Swanson said. “The [Arute family do] an amazing job with what they’ve put together at Stafford every week and the SK Modifieds just put on an amazing show every week.

“Definitely excited for the opportunity that Tommy is providing me. Luckily with Ceravolo’s Auto backing me, looking for a few other marketing partners, we can really put something special together here.”

Bolles will run a limited schedule in the SK Modified division at Stafford in his No. 76 car.

Swanson’s slate will be full at Stafford. He will also run the track’s Open Modified events for team owner Gary Casella.

“Obviously me and Gary have such a good relationship that if we decide one day we want to go run an [Modified Racing Series] race or we want to go run an Open race somewhere else we’re definitely going to go do it,” Swanson said. “But the confirmed schedule right now that we can say we’re 100 percent doing is the Open shows at Stafford.”

Seat time is important. Good Luck

  2. Eight races between the two, no top 5’s or even 10’s.
Not good but I swear Bolles was fast at times in the cars that are of his own creation so this may just be a sleeper combination to watch in 2022.
Are we seeing something like Chassis Pro when they started out?
Everyone that has driven the Casella 25 on a regular basis has won something. Ole Blue was an honor to drive but Swanson will never have a better opportunity to show he has what it takes to win. Pressure’s on.

  3. nice get for Stafford. the best local weekly division just gets better.

Good luck to Matt and his new team. I think this combo will be top contenders.
