With his first adventure at the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the rear view, Jacob Perry is busy piecing together his schedule for Tour Type Modified racing in 2022.

Perry drove full-time on the Modified Racing Series last year for team owner Jack Bateman, finishing second in the series standing with three victories. He will continue in that role with Bateman for 2022.

Perry will also add to his schedule by teaming up with his second cousin Norm Perry to launch an effort to run selected Tri-Track Open Modified events and Open Modified events at Stafford Speedway.

“Norm ended up buying a brand new Troyer chassis and all new parts, and he asked me to drive for him,” Perry said. “So I’m not going to complain about that. I’m excited for this opportunity to work with Norm again since he gave me my first opportunity in Modifieds and we’ve both learned a lot. … Having him be five minutes down the street is a nice opportunity so I can go work on the car whenever after work. … That makes it nice.”

Jacob Perry said the team’s schedule will be fluid depending on how things go on track.

“We probably won’t be at the Spring Sizzler [at Stafford], but we’re going to try to run as many Stafford Open Modified shows as we can,” Jacob Perry said. “We’re going to try do selected Tri-Track events. I know we’re going to try and run the [New London-Waterford Speedbowl] race for them. I think we’ll try to run the Monadnock Speedway event with them and if possible, Thunder Road.”

Jacob Perry said Norm Perry will also continue to field a car full-time on the Tri-Track Open Modified Series for veteran Kirk Alexander.

Perry said he is also looking at the possibility of landing a ride for two New England Whelen Modified Tour events this season.

“We are working to try and do the Whelen Modified Tour dates at Monadnock Speedway and Claremont Speedway for a former Whelen Modified Tour team owner,” Perry said.
