Thompson Notes: Steve Chapman Gets First Thompson Speedway SK Light Modified Victory

THOMPSON – Steven Chapman drove away from George Bessette Jr. on a lap 20 restart and went on to win the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature.

It was the first career SK Light Modified victory at Thompson for the Ellington driver.

“I know how to get to victory lane finally,” Chapman said. “Holy crap. I’ve been trying for three years nonstop. … Everything was against me and I finally figured out how to get here.”

Bessette, of Danbury, held on for second and Tyler Chapaman of Ellington was third.

Derek Gluchacki won the 35-lap Late Model feature.

Brian Tagg was second and Nick Johnson third.

Corey Fanning held off Aaron Plemons on a lap 23 restart to win the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature.

Plemons held on for second and Larry Barnett was third.

Kevin Moore got his first career victory in the 20-lap Mini Stock feature.

Steve Michalski was second and Scott Michalski third.

  1. Both Chapman’s seemed to have incredible power. 2-3 tenths faster than everyone.
