Thunder Road Local Divisions Ready To Capitalize At Community Bank 150

(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

Thunder Road has led a 62-year history of local Vermonters putting on one of the best shows in stock car racing every time the gates open at the end of Fisher Road. Sunday, May 1st will be no exception. For the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks, its go-time for the season-long points battle and a chance at a Community Bank bonus. For the Burnett Scrap Metal Road Warriors, it’s time to see if their junkyard rigs will hold together till the end, leaving one happy camper with the big trophy in victory lane.

For the Number One Support Division in North America, hitting the season off successfully is a positive wave that a team can ride clear to October. “Opening day wins are like winning the lottery, just a huge surprise sometimes,” said 2021 Flying Tiger Community Bank winner Jaden Perry. “It sets you up for a great year with those bragging rights in the pit area.” The Lenny’s Shoe and Apparel Flying Tigers are again expected to be flooded with storied drivers from early Rookie of the Year-favorite Kaiden Fisher to hardened veterans like Craig Bushey, Joel Hodgdon and Jason Woodard ready to start the year on the right foot.

Likewise, the rk Miles Street Stocks are just as hungry to start their year off with the championship wide open to all comers. Once again built on a strong batch of rookies, the Street Stock ranks are also filled with former champions and race winners, speaking to the level of competition that has kept them a fan favorite for over 35 years. One to watch this opening day is the #54 of Josh Lovely, still on cloud-nine from an outstanding Mini-Milk Bowl victory last October while top-of-the-winners-list drivers like Tommy ‘Thunder’ Smith, William Henniquin, Jamie Davis and Jeffery Martin are all expected to be in contention for the Community Bank bonus check in victory lane.

Ever since reimplementing the division in 2017, the Burnett Scrap Metal Road Warriors have been the highlight of Thursday night racing. The simply-built and affordable class has been growing ever since and added onto the Thunder Road ladder system, giving drivers and teams affordable experience before diving headlong into a Street Stock or Flying Tiger. While several drivers, including Mark Beaulieu, Josh Vilbrin and Paige Whittemore, have moved onto the Street Stocks, new drivers continue to flood the Warrior roster. To win, these green teams will have to battle hard against veterans Jason Kirby, Jamie York and ‘Flyin’ Fred Fleury.

The Thunder Road local divisions are ready to roll back over Quarry Hill in Barre, Vermont to join the ACT Late Model Tour for the Community Bank 150 on Sunday, May 1st.
