Opening Friday Night Event At Stafford Called Off Due To Inclement Weather

Spring in New England usually means one thing when it comes to short track racing: Too many rain outs.

And that’s the case for tonight’s Friday night weekly opener at Stafford Speedway.

With rain expected for much of the evening, Stafford Speedway management made the decision early Friday afternoon to call off tonight’s racing card.

Opening night festivities, along with the Kid’s Night festivities and Big Wheel races, will take place on May 13. Any tickets sold for tonight’s event will be honored on May 13.

  1. Unlike social media no one said they didn’t get any rain. Well done RaceDayCt nation!!
I certainly support every tracks decision to pull the plug. It’s not just about precipitation it’s about how potential fans perceive the threat and not go. I thought for sure Stafford would run but at the time they called it radar was showing a massive green moisture laden monster on their doorstep. Then no rain if living two towns over means anything.
Could this be one of the few times multiple tracks pulled the plug and none got rain?
Stafford, Waterford and Riverhead cancelled and no rain.
Again not critical. Just looking for a record here cause for this weekend that’s about all we have right race fans?

  2. 1st weekend after after long winter of no racing
Spring sizzler was awesome but nothing like normal Friday night racing and Saturday at the bowl hopefully next Fri and sat are beautiful with the kids night at Stafford and the 350 supers at the bowl should be excellent weekend of racing
