STAFFORD – After fourteen years of waiting, Chris Matthews finally extended his lead at the top of the all-time SK Light Modified win list at Stafford Speedway Friday.

Matthews won the rain shortened 12-lap SK Light Modified feature. The race was originally scheduled for 20 laps.

It was the 18th career SK Light Modified victory at Stafford for Matthews, of Stafford. His last victory came on Sept. 5, 2008.

“It was a long time to get back,” Matthews said. “This Chassis Pro has been really good to us. Tonight it felt really great. I would have loved to have gotten to race to the end for it, but we’ll take it any way we can get it.”

Matthews now leads Joey Ferrigno by two wins on the SK Light Modified all-time win list at Stafford. Tony Membrino Jr. sits third on the list with 15 victories.

Matthews passed Alina Bryden for the lead on lap five and never trailed again.
