STAFFORD – Last week Kevin Gambacorta called his car “stupid fast” after checking out on the field in a dominating victory in the Late Model division at Stafford Speedway.

Apparently his car got even stupider during the week.

Despite starting deep in the field, Gambacorta sliced his way to the front and went on to a cruising victory in the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford Speedway.

“This thing is unbelievable,” Gambacorta said. “I don’t know what Bob Fill does to it. He stands over there in turn one and watches how bad I drive and he does whatever to make it work for me. So I can’t thank him enough.”

Tom Fearn of East Longmeadow, Mass. was second and Paul Varricchio of Berling third.

Fearn went to the lead on lap 16 with Gambacorta moving to second two laps later. By lap 23 Gambacorta was tightly stalking Fearn’s bumper.

Gambacorta went by Fearn fron the lead on lap 24 off of turn four and went unchallenged from there to the checkered flag.

Rich Hammann won for the second consecutive week in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.

Jeremy Lavoie of Windsor Locks was second and Matt Clement of Wethersfield third.
