Jason Finkbein made his first career Street Stock victory at Stafford one to be remember for the dramatics.

Finkbein rallied off of turn four on the final lap and edged Travis Downey by inches at the checkered to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

“I worked so hard for this,” Finkbein said. “I don’t even know what to say right now. I’ve just got to thank my crew. They get me here every week and I’ve just got to drive my ass off.”

Downey, of Barkhamstead, was second by five one hundreths of a second.

Ryan Waterman of Danielson was third.

Downey had got by Finkbein for the lead off of turn four coming to the white flag. Finkbein stayed to Downey’s outside for the final lap with pair side-by-side down the backstretch and into turn three. Downey was ahead coming off of turn four. From the outside it was Finkbein winning the drag race to the checkered flag.

“I like when people race me clean and I’ll race them clean back,” Finkbein said of the late battle with Downey. “It’s just a good feeling.”
