STAFFORD – Travis Hydar has been one of the leading contenders in the Street Stock division at Stafford Speedway over the past three seasons.

The Woodbury driver had one victory in the Street Stock division in 2020 and four more in 2021.

And while the trips to victory lane were all worthy of celebration for Hydar, there was one event he wanted more than all the others.

Friday Hydar got that one.

Hydar held off all challengers to win the Midstate Site Development Firecracker 30 Friday at Stafford Speedway.

“I’ve wanted to win this race since they started doing it [in 2020] and I’ve always come up short,” Hydar said. “I can’t even express how excited I am right now.”

Adrien Paradis III of Plainville was second and Johnny Walker of Agawam, Mass. third.

With Paradis leading and Travis Downey in second, Walker used a three-wide move low through turns one and two on a lap 11 restart to go to the front of the field. Hydar followed to second.

After stalking on Walker’s bumper for numerous laps, Hydar found the lane under Walker in turn three and came off turn four with a lead he wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the way.

Hydar was able to hold off Paradis and Walker on a lap 28 restart to secure the win.

“I was really thankful to get a really good restart there,” Hydar said. “The track started going away. Everyone slowed down a lot. But the car just kept getting better as the race went on.”
