STAFFORD – On June 10 Woody Pitkat won the Twisted Tea Open Modified 80 at Stafford Speedway to give Doug Dunleavy his first victory as a Modified team owner.

Friday Pitkat made sure he wasted little time in getting Dunleavy a second.

Pitkat had the field covered in dominating fashion Friday on the way to victory in the GAF Roofing Open Modified 80 at Stafford.

“Doug Dunleavy is an amazing car owner,” Pitkat said. “He gives us everything we need. He’s just down to earth like us.”

It was the 80th career feature win overall at Stafford for Pitkat, a Stafford native. He sits second on the track’s all-time win list behind the late Ted Christopher (131 wins).

“This is my home track, my home place,” Pitkat said. “Number 80. It’s really cool. I know Doug wanted No. 80. It’s really cool to get No. 80.”

Pitkat dedicated the victory to his ailing father.

“This one is definitely for him,” Pitkat said. “Thinking of him today. Went and saw him today. Hopefully he can pull through because I feel like there’s many more of these that we can do and I want him right here.”

Ronnie Williams of Ellington was second and Chase Dowling of Roxbury third.

Pitkat went by Eric Goodale for lead on lap five with Dowling moving to second on lap 14.

Caution flew on lap 44 with Pitkat lead, Dowling in second and Goodale third.

The bulk of the field headed to the pits with Tommy Barrett Jr. staying out and assuming the lead. Goodale restarted in second with Pitkat third, Williams fourth and Dowling fifth.

On the restart it was Pitkat quickly retaking the top spot with Dowling clawing back to second.

Williams was able to overtake Dowling for second on lap 56 but never could find a way to challenge Pitkat.

“That was unbelievable,” Pitkat said. “It’s all Cam. Cam McDermott the crew chief, unbelievable job. … It’s unbelievable to have a car like that. It’s so much fun. I feel like Cam has definitely put me back on the map. … He’s amazing, he really is.”

Thank You to all who have joined in……
surprised the 7NY wasn’t involved at Seekonk or Stafford Opens ….????

  6. Amen! The system was OK before, needed a change, we made it happen and the results have been outstanding. This Pick 6 was very close and we still managed to get a clear winner.
One suggestion for a one time ripple courtesy of csg is to add one point for the top qualifier in a NWMT race. I’d suggest Claremont.
    Give it some thought.
Happy birthday USA. We may not be on the same page or the same book for that matter.
But we’re still here after over two and a half centuries and that has to count for something.

  7. Suitcase Jake says

Doug.. The CSG one point for top Qualifier was discussed with the Exhaust Circuit Board and was unanimously APPROVED 10 – 0 ….. AS long as picks are posted before Time Trialing begins…It has been approved for Claremont Race to see how it goes…..This is still the GREATEST COUNTRY in the WORLD…. There is more that UNITES us than divides us… AS long as we keep the dialogue open and keep talking ..We always can agree to disagree … Respect others positions… debate the issues and then VOTE on what you believe is the best choice… USA is the BEST Country in the World…!!!
