For the first time in his career, three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore will head to Claremont Motorsports Park this Friday night. Bonsignore will compete in the 10th race of 16 on the Whelen Modified Tour schedule – the Clash at Claremont 150 – against some of the top names in Modified racing.

Chasing a winning prize of over $11,000, Bonsignore will look to gain crucial experience during practice and qualifying and prepare for battle at one of New England’s toughest tracks. The tricky corners, different on both ends, often produce a different driving style compared to other short tracks in the region.

The race is also the final in the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup. Bonsignore’s No. 51 Ken Massa Motorsports team enters the race trailing the leader by just five points, with a $5,000 championship on the line to the team who scores the most points over the three races. There is also a $2,000 bonus to the team that finishes second, and $1,000 to the third-place finisher.

“We’re always excited to visit a new track with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour,” Bonsignore said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge of figuring out the track quickly and contending for not only the win in the race, but the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup title. Ending the month of July on a high note is important to us.”

Claremont’s race day schedule includes one Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 4:30-5:30 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6:45 p.m. The drop of the green flag for the Clash at Claremont is scheduled for 8:45 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. All tickets for the event are available in advance at JDVProductions.com and will also be available at the track on race day.

Doug, you may have to add this to a newer story, had a hard time finding the Pick’em

  9. Roger that. I updated it in the latest NWMT/Claremont story so now it appears in three places.
News and commentary are coming so hot and heavy on the MMTTS controversy at Star and the upcoming race at the Speedbowl the Claremont race is moving down the front page story list and “Recent comments” summary so fast it gets missed.
I’ll try to do a better job now we’re in the red zone.

Doug, Thanks for keeping everything straight ..!! You are the Man…!!! I could have never
been able to do it, Sometimes the Founder needs to step aside and let the computer competent take the Reins of the Pick’em … I will stay on the Board of Directors as an
Advisor … Doug you keep it Running Strong..!!!!!!

  12. I hate to disabuse you for thinking you’re the founder but you’ve taken credit for the wrong thing on a number of occasions so time to get the record straight.
I was the one that suggested the contest and built the initial point system that was essentially a series of single points. Then an ugly scrum ensued between myself and another member of the forum that so frequently happened. While the scrum was in full flower you had suggested a separate point system.
I ran two systems for a race or two and it became clear yours had advantages over mine but that’s not how your system came to be the only one we would use. The crux is that you were a neutral third party while the bickering was going on with a reputation for being insightful as an experienced former racer. Also perpetually positive in nature and a joy to have in the forum. It was with a sense of relief that we landed on your system and anointed you as “Commissioner”.
The initial system served us well for a year or so, a change was made but let’s make one thing perfectly clear. There would be no forum pick-em or pick 6 or anything else without Suitcase Jake’s insights and unbridled enthusiasm. To my credit I could see the hand writing on the wall and fell in line as a good team mate doing what I enjoy the most which is keep the books. You can think you assigned me that position but lets be real here. Does any of the behavior I’ve exhibited in this forum or things I’ve written about lead you to believe I do anything I don’t want to?
The system has matured and evolved. Now based on the RaceDayCt Pick-em but modified with contributions from Suitcase Jake, Fast Eddie and csg. it’s been a pleasure seeing how successful the system is working. I’d be the first to whine if I had to resolve a bunch of conflicts with subjective judgements but the system is scoring itself all I do is add numbers and keep the records.
I’ve been in this forum I’m thinking like since 2015 or 16. Never did I think a bunch of cats frequently clawing at each other to guard territory could agree much on anything in a larger group let alone work toward something in unison but here we are. The most recent contest resolved itself and csg’s idea of a pole bonus yet another success as it put the sole winner of the bonus on the podium in third place.
Call yourself anything you like Suitcase Jake. Fact is the single most important thing is to have an enthusiastic, respected member of the forum whipping up enthusiasm. You are that guy like it or not and that’s why you are the guy I enjoy beating the most but I’d never admit it. Oops!
