Stafford Notes: Bert Ouellette Gets First Win Of 2022 In Street Stocks

STAFFORD – Bert Ouellette finally could call himself second to none Friday at Stafford Speedway. 

Ouellette held off the charges of Travis Downey on a lap 14 restart then checked out from the field to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature Friday at Stafford. 

It was the first victory of the season for Ouellette, who had three second place finishes among his seven top-five’s over the first 11 races of the season before Friday. 

“This is fantastic,” Ouellette said. “We’ve been second multiple times. To finally have the cards fall our way, we had a stout piece tonight. I can’t say enough about these JET Motorsports guys.” 

It was the second career win in the division for Ouellette, who scored his first win on Sept. 24, 2021. 

Jason Lafayette of Somers was second and Downey, of Barkhamstead, third. 

Rich Hammann scored his fourth victory of the season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. 

Kevin Cormier of Agawam, Mass. was second and Matt Clement of Wethersfield third. 

George Bessette Jr. bested Tyler Barry on a green-white-checkered finish to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature. 

It was the second victory of the season for Bessette, of Danbury. 

Barry, of Griswold, was second and Alexander Pearl of Salem third.
