Pre-Season pick : Jon McKennedy – New Team – Hitting stride at the right time
Thompson owes him a couple – The High Banks and fast speeds are Jon’s Strong
Suit… Got the all Important first Win with new team stay Hot and take the Championship.
    I will stick with my pick… # 79 gets it done…

  2. First win with the new team was the SBM X last year at Star but fine. First NWMT win with the 79.
I’m shocked. Only a handful of points separating the top two but this poll clearly shows Silk the strong favorite. Silk my pick going away and that is not happening. Friday the 16 team spent more energy coming in behind Hirschman yet again at Claremont so one wonders what is their game plan.
Wait for it. Gotta mention it you know it’s coming. The heck with the drivers championship this is the year of the 7ny and only the emphasis on driver dampening what they have accomplished. Not to worry I’ll remind you.
The 51 has to be a favorite. Or would that be the 7ny? History doesn’t show McKennedy’s experience with high speed in the Supers translates to Thompson nor does Silk’s for that matter.
So who will win in the return to Thompson? No clue!

  9. Fast Eddie says

Ok dareal, the 3 is one pick for you, and I’m sure jbon would be another. 4 more and you’re in!!

  10. Suitcase Jake says

Goodfella , Blasphemy , I know but if Santos was in OLD BLUE #3 he would be in my Top #3 , Lia is the only driver not performing well. Jake Johnson or. Preece same deal Top 3 . Doug likes to push my BUTTONS on Mckennedy but it’s ok … IF u have been paying ATTENTION ?? He had the Thompson 300 in the bag …. Until Rocco spun himself out in turns 3 & 4 >>>> Had another Tour Race in the bag .. Until the 7NY ran out of Fuel !!!!!! that would have been Two Wins in a Row after Winning down South in the First Tour Race… Hello ?? He also had another slip away in the PITS after totally Dominating the Feature !! Oh yeah How many SUPER MODIFED Wins in a row ??? LIKE 8 0r 9 ??? 2 or 3 on the HIGH BANKS. !!!! Like I said first TOUR WIN with the NEW TEAM is HUGE… Ok so if anyone has been WATCHING on TV … Have they not Showed McKennedy WAY OUT FRONT ??????? Yeah so He DOES BENEFIT WITH THE HIGH SPEEDS like Bently Warren and Nocella do Also !! Thanks Doug for getting my keyboard a Workout …OH yes # 79 to Win at Thompson !!

  11. 44, 51, 50, 10, 7NY, 3

  12. I’ll check the Shoulda-Woulda-Coulda stats on Racing Reference sounds like McKennedy must be leading those standings for sure. Oh that’s right they don’t keep those records.
My top tier of active modified drivers remains at Hirschman, Preece, Silk, Santos, J Bonsignor and Coby. McKennedy in the second tier somewhere between 7 and 15. Perhaps a championship this year could move him up a bit in the second tier but I’m confident my first tier is pretty bullet proof at least as on now.
Only 4 points separate Silk and McKennedy for the NWMT championship yet over twice the respondents pick Silk over McKennedy to win it in this poll. Hmmm, interesting.
The real overall champion this year will likely be TBR and it won’t even be close.

    51, 44, 15, 07, 3, 79

I remember Mr. Lia and TC battling it out in this particular race about 13 years ago. It was a great, hotly contested race between the 4 and the 36. Ironically 4 + 36 = 40 and I was drinking 40 ouncers with an old boyfriend (don’t ask!) in the turn 4 grandstand that night. 🍺Memories!🍺
