THOMPSON – It’s a week of surprise visits to local tracks for Ryan Preece.
Preece was a last minute replacement for Bobby Santos III in the Tinio Motorsports entry for Thursday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Phoenix Communications 150 at Thompson Speedway.
Following the event Thursday at Thompson Preece confirmed to RaceDayCT that he has entered the Lincoln Tech Open Modified 80 Friday at Stafford Speedway.
“I came up from North Carolina just to visit my father and do a little maintenance,” Preece said. “The Tinio’s called me [Wednesday] to race here. I had planned on leaving [Thursday] afternoon. Well that changed things racing here at Thompson. So I’m going to race [Friday at Stafford].”
Preece won the Lincoln Tech Open Modified 80 last year.
Preece has run three of the four Open Modified events at Stafford this season. He was second in the NAPA Spring Sizzler on April 24. He also ran the Bud Light Open 80 on June 10 and the GAF Roofing Open 80 on July 1.
Preece has two career victories in Open Modified events at Stafford. He also won the Twisted Tea Open Modified 80 on June 14, 2019.
Preece finished sixth in the Whelen Modified Tour Phoenix Communications 150 at Thompson Thursday.
