Thunder Road Showcases Support Divisions In Career Defining Mini Milk Bowls

(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

Although the three segment Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank is the annual end-of-year highlight, it also holds a long standing tradition for the various Thunder Road support divisions. The glory earned on Milk Bowl weekend for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks has long been a career highlight for those strong enough to take the Mini Milk Bowl wins while new divisions take on the challenge to join those names in the Thunder Road history books.

Over the past quarter-century, the rk Miles Street Stocks and Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers have battled hard for their own Milk Bowl glory. While not a chance to kiss the cow, their annual two segment ‘Mini’ Milk Bowls have drawn in the local Thursday warriors as well as regional pilots looking for end-of-season glory in one of New England’s most iconic events.

One of the most recent brass-ring-grabbers is looking forward to making it two-for-two in year 60. Barre’s own Cameron Ouelette took his #90VT to Northfield Savings Bank victory lane one year ago as a win for the Little Guys, often just Cameron and his father pulling through the Thunder Road gates. “It’s so special for us to have finally gotten a win in such a prestigious event,” said Ouelette. “I can’t thank my Dad enough for giving me such an unbelievable car to drive…there’s no better feeling than getting out with that special [Milk Bowl] flag and looking up at all those fans.”

Alongside the Flying Tigers, the rk Miles Street Stocks continue their traditional Milk Bowl celebration as well. The weekly 4-cylinder division averaged over 30 cars per event in 2022 but the 25-lap Segments may hinder the leader’s ability to charge up through the field. A betting man should keep their eye on Berlin’s Kyler Davis. Davis came up second in the season-long point battle but earned the Two Brothers Recycling Hard Charger Award four times in 2022, proving his ability to cut through traffic on the highbanks! Two Brothers Recycling frequent fliers also included 2022 Champion Dean Switser Jr. and formerchamp Jeffrey Martin leaving the stakes high in the ‘Crunch Bunch’ Mini Milk Bowl.

Thunder Road sister track, White Mountain Motorsports Park, is getting in on the action as well. For the second consecutive year the North Woodstock oval is sending over the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis and Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division to take on Vermont’s biggest weekend once again. Last season, Nick Pilotte stole away the Strictly Mini honors while young McKenna Merchant dominated the Kid’s Division Mini Milk Bowl. Both are expected to defend their 2021 victories.

While not taking on Segment racing, the White Mountain Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Models are in town Friday night for a big $1,000 to win 50 lap main event alongside the Pro All Stars Series and New England Supermodified Series. The Burnett Scrap Metal Road Warrior stars will also make their Mini Milk Bowl appearance on Sunday in front of the large expected crowds for the iconic Vermont event. Frank Putney, Nate ‘Tater’ Brien, Flyin’ Fred Fleury or an underdog will take down the Road Warriors as one of Sunday’s slam-bang unique events!

Three-days of New England’s best stock car racing is on tap to celebrate the big $103,000 60th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank starting with Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Friday on September 30th. Friday’s Pro All Stars Series invasion includes the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel PASS Super Late Model 150 plus the New England SupermodifiedSeries, PASS Modifieds and White Mountain Motorsports Park’s Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Models joining in with a $1,000 to win, 50 lap main event.

Saturday, October 1st brings back Booth Bros./Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day with Time Trials and $1,000 to win triple-50 heat races for Late Models, group time trials and Mini Milk Bowl segment one for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks plus Full Mini Milk Bowls for the White Mountain Motorsports Park Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis and Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division. Saturday night will feature the Thunder Road Go-Karts on the infield along with band Vinyl Spell and Bonfire in the Turn Three and new VIP Parking Areas.

Sunday, October 2nd showcases the 60th edition of the famed Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank. Headlined by the $12,000 to win ‘Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America,’ Sunday’s action also includes the final segment in the career-defining Flying Tiger and Street Stock Mini-Milk Bowls plus the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warrior Mini Milk Bowl. Full schedule for all three days of the 60th Vermont Milk Bowl weekend is now available online at www.thunderroadvt.com/schedule.
