Cris Michaud Announces Special Southern New England Triple Crown to Round Out 2022

(Press Release from American-Canadian Tour)

Standing before the racers present at the American-Canadian Tour drivers meeting at Thompson Speedway last Saturday, ACT Managing Partner Cris Michaud announced a special Triple Crown for the remaining events on the 2022 ACT Tour schedule.

Open to those who supported the Sunoco World Series 75 on Saturday, October 8th, the remaining two events at Seekonk Speedway and New London-Waterford Speedbowl in the month of October will count towards Triple Crown points with those drivers eligible for a piece of the $3,000 purse.

Following the conclusion of the three events that comprise the ‘Southern New England Swing’ in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts, this end-of-the-year Triple Crown features a $3,000 purse. The champion will earn a $1,500 bonus with $1,000 going to the runner-up and $500 to the third-in-points driver following the American-Canadian Tour championship event at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on October 29th.

“It’s getting to be that difficult time of the season for racers as their budgets start to dry up,” said Michaud. “We wanted to reward those that supported us at Thompson and these folks that have stuck through our most ambitious and exciting ACT Tour schedule in quite some time. I’m excited, it could add just the right amount of drama for the end of the year and maybe turn into something we could possibly do again down the road.”

The points structure for the Southern New England Triple Crown is based on the American-Canadian Tour point breakdown plus heat race points and lap leader bonus points. To be eligible for the Triple Crown top-three purse drivers must have attempted to qualify for all three Southern New England ACT Tour events.

The American-Canadian Tour returns to Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, October 22nd for the Haunted Hundred alongside the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series and the INEX Legend Cars. The penultimate event for the American-Canadian Tour brings the championship down to the ‘Concrete Palace,’ a wild card oval where anything can happen as drivers set themselves up for the championship Shoreline 150 at New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday, October 29th.
