Northfield Savings Bank Resigns For Three-Year Extension As Vermont Milk Bowl Presenter At Thunder Road

(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

Thunder Road Officials announced today that Northfield Savings Bank has resigned a new three-year deal that will see the largest Vermont-based financial institution continue to present the nationally recognized Vermont Milk Bowl through 2025. The Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank will once again feature a spectacular $103,100 purse after an ultra-successful 60th edition of ‘The Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America’ last October. The Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank is set to run for the 61st time on Sunday, October 1st following the always exciting Booth Bros./Hood Qualifying Day on Saturday, September 30th.

All the action starts on Milk Bowl Qualifying Saturday. For the one and only time each season, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models time trial with the fastest of two laps among the field earning the Booth Bros./Hood Pole Award worth $1,000 with the runner-up, outside pole sitter taking a $500 prize. The time trials set the line-up for the Triple-50 heat races that same Saturday. Once again, these heat race qualifiers will each have a $4,300 purse with $1,000 going to the winner of each heat race. In 2022, polesitter and eventual winner Christopher Pelkey went into Sunday $2,000 richer by taking fast time and winning his respective heat.

The Vermont Milk Bowl itself will once again pay $12,000 to win and $1,100 to start following Sunday’s always exciting Last Chance B-Feature that shares a $4,975 purse for non-qualified drivers. Lap Money will also factor in as $100-per-lap is shared among the top three leaders for each of the 150-laps broken into their respective 50-lap segments. The Overall Score Bonuses have also returned with $10,000 up for grabs if a driver can sweep all three segments for the ‘perfect’ final score of just 3 points and $5,000 can be earned with an overall score of a mere 4 or 5 points.

“With all the support we received from teams, fans and Northfield Savings Bank for the big 60th, we felt more than comfortable keeping the increased Vermont Milk Bowl purse going forward,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “Northfield Savings Bank has been a great supporter of the Vermont Milk Bowl for nearly a decade and has been a recognizable advocate of Vermont racing for much longer. We are thrilled to keep them as part of the Thunder Road family for years to come.”
