SEEKONK, Mass. – Qualifying for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series went caution free for three heat races to set the field for the 18th Open Wheel Wednesday at Seekonk Speedway.
Doug Coby of Milford topped the first of the 12-lap heat races. Matt Swanson of Acton, Mass. was victorious in the second heat. Sam Rameau of Westminster, Mass. led from green to checkered to top the third heat.
Coby went pole-sitter Jake Johnson in the first heat race to roll to the win. Matt Hirschman was second and Johnson third.
Swanson got by Ron Silk for the lead early in the second heat race and went unchallenged the rest of the way. Silk ended up second and Kyle Bonsignore was third.
Rameau never gave up the top spot in the third heat race. Richard Savary was second and Austin Beers third.
