Double Points, Double Purse, Double Excitement For Times Argus Midseason Championships Thursday At Thunder Road

(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

In the past thirty-one seasons, the Times Argus Midseason Championships has been the date circled on every racer’s calendar. One night that can make, or break, a championship season at Thunder Road with double points on the line in all divisions. Double the reward and double the risk. In 2023, the Times Argus Midseason Championships will also have double the money on the line thanks to our streaming partner FloRacing, only adding to the drama and excitement, along with the annual Autograph Session!

As reported prior to Sunday’s washout, the point battles are neck-and-neck in all three championship divisions at Thunder Road. 25 points separate the top-10 Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models with a three-way tie for sixth and a two-way tie for ninth heading into Times Argus Midseason Championships on Thursday. While defending champion Christopher Pelkey looks to make it three Midseason Championships in a row after taking the 2021 and ’22 event, Phil Scott, Scott Dragon, Kyle Pembroke, Chip Grenier and Nick Sweet are all looking to regain the title once again. The rookie battle will also be hotly contested as Justin Prescott looks to hurdle over Kaiden Fisher in the standings while Claremont, New Hampshire’s Cody Schoolcraft looks to make up some lost ground on his competition.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers are all looking to break-up the top-10. With ties currently making up first, third and sixth in the standings, more than a few pilots are looking to shake things up. Jason Pelkey and Sam Caron continue to be deadlocked at the top of the heap as both search for their first Times Argus Midseason Championship. Although 79 points currently separate first from tenth on the standings, the lucrative double point structure will certainly do its best to break the Flying Tiger gridlock on Thursday.

Sophomore rk Miles Street Stock standout Cameron Powers is about to face his greatest test with Thursday’s Times Argus Midseason Championships. Knocking on his back door just six-points behind is 2019 Street Stock champion Jeffrey Martin, who’d love nothing more than to bring another top trophy home in 2023. Not to mention season-long point leader Juan ‘Paco’ Marshall, the quietly consistent Tyler Whittemore and opening day winner James Dopp also breathing down his neck.

It wouldn’t be a full deck without the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. Although not point racing, these small budget heroes are looking forward to the FloRacing Double Purse and ready for the annual autograph session to boot!
