The hills of northeast Connecticut are set to echo again with the roar of Thompson Speedway on Wednesday, July 26th with the return of the Thompson Outlaw Open Modifieds!

With some of New England’s top talent ready to push Ronnie Williams off his win streak at the Big-T, the 50-lap Dash for Cash presented by Twisted Tea will certainly make headlines. Better still, the SK Light Modifieds are pulling for epic Double Features on the 5/8-mile along with the Late Models, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stocks for another exciting mid-week racing program.

As of press time on Monday, Ronnie Williams made clear his intention to keep his Thompson sweep rolling after winning April’s Icebreaker 125 and June’s first Dash for Cash sprint. While Williams is looking to make it three for three at the Big-T, there are others looking to dethrone the King. Chris Pasteryak was just 0.223-seconds behind Williams front bumper in June to take the runner-up spot as he leads the host of talent also looking for Thompson glory. Top young-guns Teddy Hodgdon, RJ Marcotte, Anthony Bello, Jacob Perry and Brett Meservey also join the field looking to break into victory lane. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour point leader Ron Silk is also set to return to Thompson ahead of August’s 150-lap Tour race with Tommy Barrett Jr. and Kevin Folin also on the entry list.

Not to be overshadowed, SK Light Modifieds are going for Double Features on Wednesday as Tyler Chapman leads the standings over John O’Sullivan. Tyler is following in the footsteps of brother Steven who won the SK Light championship at Thompson last season before stepping up to an SK at Stafford this season. Tyler and O’Sullivan have split the two wins so far this season, opening the door for a very consistent Alexander Pearl or perhaps an Isiah Newcomb or Meghan Fuller can finally take the ‘W’ at Thompson!

2018 track champion Nick Johnson once again leads the Late Model pack after taking his first Late Model victory at the Speedway in June. Longtime southern New England standout Matt Lowinski-Loh is also in the hunt as is Nick’s cousin Jake ‘The Jet’ Johnson in the popular Hartwell Motorsports entry. Leading American-Canadian Tour rookie campaigner Andrew Molleur and former Legends standout Devin Deshaies complete the top-five as all look to make the cut on Wednesday and join the winner’s circle.

Corey Fanning has swept both Limited Sportsman features so far this season and looks to make it three-for-three but ‘Leadfoot’ Larry Barnett, Jason Chicolas, Ryan Waterman and a host of others may have something to say about that! The Mini Stocks have put on some phenomenal racing this season with former champion Jarred Roy and first-time winner Kyle Wing splitting the wins column as defending champion Kevin Moore has been on the outside looking in.

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park returns to action on Wednesday, July 26th for the Twisted Tea Dash for Cash #2 for the Thompson Outlaw Open Modifieds with special Double Features for the SK Light Modifieds! The ACT-type Late Models, Limited Sportsman, and Mini Stocks also join the card for the second Wednesday night showdown of the 2023 season! Post Time is set for 6:00pm with Adult General Admission set at $30 with kids 6-12 for $10 and all kids 5 and under free!

If you go to https://www.acttour.com/thompson-speedway-schedule it says ‘Pricing TBA’. With the event only 50 hours way, I think it is only fair that I know the price before I drive over there.

  2. Midnight Accountant,
Info is in the story you’re commenting on in the fourth paragraph up from the end of the release. “Post Time is set for 6:00pm with Adult General Admission set at $30 with kids 6-12 for $10 and all kids 5 and under free!”

  3. I am surprised not to see Matt Swanson and the red 25 on the entry list, he ran well in the June race.

  4. Ricky,
To my knowledge, Matt Swanson will be there in the Gary Casella No. 25.

  5. Hard to bet against Ronnie and the #50 team, they’ve got that car hooked up out there.

  6. Fast Eddie says

Despite the smaller field of open mods at the last one, the racing was good. Hoping there’s a few more at this one. The SKL twin races should be good, they’ve been getting a decent turnout as well. Maybe the better weather will help the car counts in general.

Thanks Shawn! I missed it! Hopefully we get good racing tonight.
