Austin Beers Leads The Way In Whelen Modified Tour Practice At Thompson

THOMPSON – The most recent winner on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour carried that momentum right to practice Wednesday at Thompson Speedway. 

Austin Beers, who scored his second win of the season on Aug. 5 at Lancaster (N.Y.) Motorplex, led the way when the Whelen Modified Tour hit the track for practice for tonight’s Thompson 150 presented by FloSports.com

Beers, of Northampton, Pa., toured the .625-mile oval with a fast lap of 19.105 seconds (117.77 mph). 

Six-time Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby was second fastest of the 23 cars on track during the hour long session at 19.135 seconds (117.586 mph).

Anthony Sesely was third during the practice with a fast lap of 19.149 seconds (117.500 mph). 

Bobby Santos III (19.178 seconds) and Matt Hirschman (19.192) rounded out the top-five. Eric Berndt, making his first series start since 2013, was sixth fastest with a fast lap of 19.232 seconds. Series points leader Ron Silk was seventh (19.232). 

Justin Bonsignore, Patrick Emerling and Matt Swanson rounded out the top-10 in practice times respectively.
