Back To School Monster Truck Spectacular Set To Thrill Riverhead Raceway Wednesday Aug. 23

(Press Release from Riverhead Raceway)

The summer days and nights on Long Island are starting to dwindle down to a precious few, and for the students the start of school is just around the corner. Riverhead Raceway still has plenty of summer fun to offer the kids beginning with the annual midweek Monster Truck Back to School Spectacular this Wednesday evening August 23rd. Just three days later the Saturday August 26th NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program will conclude with a School Bus Demolition Derby.

KSR Motorsports has lined-up a star-studded Monster Truck lineup for Wednesday night featuring Bad News Travels Fast, USA-! and Bear Foot. All three will get after it in free style competition including crushing full size cars flatter than a morning pancake. The 1500 horsepower trucks will also perform slap wheelie’s, cyclones and wheel stands. When the spectator gates swing open at 6:00 pm Wednesday, fans can enjoy and ride of their own on a full-blown Monster Truck, the Webslinger by turn three. Parents can knock out some back-to- school shopping at either the KSR Motorsports trailer by the ride truck or the Riverhead Raceway gift shop.

The high-flying Mini Stocks will lead the stock car portion of the night joined by the Bock Auto INEX Bandolero Bandits & Outlaws. The Mini Stock feature event is scheduled for 20-laps, while both Bock Auto INEX Bandolero features are 15-lap contests.

Later, the gloves will definitely come off when the 8-Cylinder Gut & Go and 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro take to the track for some wild and unpredictable wall to wall racing. The 8-Cylinder class started the Enduro racing craze on Long Island back in May of 1986 with Peter Verwys Jr. of East Rockaway winning that inaugural event. Peter continues to race with the 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go class and will be in his machine seeking another win Wednesday night.

Pit gates will open at 5:00 pm Wednesday evening, spectator gates open at 6:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $30, kids 6-12 $20, 5 & under free.
