While officials remained optimistic at the conclusion of yesterday’s racing program, the weatherman was once again unkind to Thunder Road on Saturday morning. With a forecasted weather pattern similar to the one that pushed Thursday’s postponement, Thunder Road officials have made the difficult decision to hold off and postpone the McGee Hyundai of Barre program to a new Super Friday date on Friday, September 1st.
With the postponement, the rk Miles Street Stock Triple Crown champion will now be crowned on Friday, September 1st. As originally announced, the cash bonuses for all four Thunder Road divisions will continue to be on tap with a $1,500-to-win Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model event, $1,000-to-win Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger feature, $500-to-win rk Miles Street Stock sprint and a $300-to-win Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warrior showdown.
“With what is being forecasted for this evening, we don’t feel we could get the full program in and keep a quality show for fans and drivers on schedule,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “We don’t want to waste everyone’s Saturday waiting around just to have it pour, either. We’ll see everyone again this Thursday.”
Thunder Road returns to action Thursday, August 17th for Vermont Tire & Service Night. Vermont Tire & Service Night will feature both the second Double Purse Night of the 2023 season courtesy of our streaming partner FloRacing but also holds the return of Kid’s Poster Night to boot! All four Thunder Road divisions will be in action as the championship season continues to heat up in the late stages!
