Road Warriors Ready for 50-Lap Nolato Night Challenge Thursday At Thunder Road

(Press release from Thunder Road International Speedbowl)

After the wild and wacky, fan-favorite Enduro 200 on Sunday, Thunder Road returns to regular service this Thursday, August 10th for Nolato GW Night. Headlined by the 5th annual Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warrior Challenge, Nolato Night will continue championship racing action for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and the rk Miles Street Stocks as they contest their second round of the three-in-a-row Triple Crown!

Yes, you read that right, the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warrior Challenge is back this Thursday as everyone’s favorite entry-level superstars compete for their longest-distance event of the summer with 50-laps on tap. Will the extra distance play into the hands of veterans Flyin’ Fred Fleury, Neal Foster, Jason Kirby or Frank Putney or do the young’uns like Karsen Murphy, Tyler Wheatley, Anderson Boyd or Keegan Tabor have the greater stamina? The real question is, which machine will make the distance regardless of the driver!

Although East Montpelier’s Cam Powers was able to resurrect a top-10 finish after a catastrophic lap three crash in Sunday’s annual Street Stock Special, Northfield’s James Dopp overtook the point lead with his third-place run. The battle continues to determine the champion in New England’s most competitive four-cylinder division but a new challenge also began on Sunday. Defending rk Miles Street Stock champion Dean Switser Jr. heads the Triple Crown standings, with events on August 6th, 10th and 12th counting toward the Crown. Along with the $500 extra-money win on Super Saturday, August 12th, the Triple Crown champion will pocket $300, second in points will earn $200 and third-place will take $100 cash bonuses.

With Thursday’s rain-out, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model and Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger standing remain unchanged. ‘The King of Barre’ Nick Sweet proved you never forget how to ride a bike, showing up his Late Model competition time and time again on the high-banks while Sam Caron has kept it calm, cool and consistent in his search for a second-consecutive Flying Tiger championship. While Sweet has taken two wins so far this summer, Caron continues to be winless but looks to change that on Nolato Night.

Thunder Road is back in action this Thursday, August 10th for the 5th annual Road Warrior 50-lap Challenge on Nolato GW Night. Along with the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warrior Challenge, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks return to championship-defining action with the Streets ready for Round #2 of their all-new Triple Crown Series before they crown the champion as part of the Super Saturday program presented by McGee Hyundai of Barre on August 12th.
