Justin Bonsignore heads back home this weekend to Riverhead Raceway in the thick of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship battle with four races remaining.
Bonsignore is coming off a victory in the Winchester Fair event at Monadnock Speedway last weekend and will enter this Saturday just one-point behind Ron Silk in the championship battle.
So far, in two stops at Riverhead this year, Bonsignore won the first race, and Silk won the second. They finished 1-2 in both races. Bonsignore has 10 wins in 26 Riverhead starts, and also enters Saturday with another chance to tie Mike Ewanitsko for the most all-time in Whelen Modified Tour action at the track, 11.
This Riverhead event will be different compared to the first two of the season, as Riverhead welcomes back the infield pitting area with live pit stops and the extended race distance of 256-laps, honoring the late owner of the track, Ed Partridge. Bonsignore won the first annual Ed Partridge 256 last year, a special win in his 39 career to date.
“What the current operators of Riverhead are doing to keep the track alive is cool to watch,” Bonsignore said. “Ed had a vision for the track and it continues to thrive today in his memory. Winning the race in his honor last year was special because I’ve been part of the Riverhead community for all of my racing career. We’re excited to get back home to Riverhead this weekend and keep our momentum rolling as the season winds down and the races get more and more important.”
Saturday’s event schedule for the Ed Partridge 256 includes practice from 3:15-4:15 p.m., qualifying at 6 p.m. and the Ed Partridge 256 at 8 p.m. For those who can’t make it, the race will air live on FloRacing.TV.
