A friendly face will return to Riverhead Raceway for the Islip 300 & Full Fender Fall Frenzy weekend Saturday November 11th and Sunday November 12th as part of the team that will conduct the richest and busiest weekend of racing in the 73-year history of the venerable facility. It was announced Wednesday Scott Tapley who served as race director at Riverhead from 2016-2021 would return to race control to oversee the busy weekend of on track activity.
“We are very excited and happy to have Scott on board for the Islip 300 and Full Fender Fall Frenzy weekend”, GM John Ellwood proclaimed, “not only is it the richest weekend of racing ever at Riverhead, but the busiest too. We have a talented & dedicated team in place every Saturday, but there are so many more moving parts to executing a weekend such as the 300/Fall Frenzy doubleheader. With Scott brining his expertise to the table, that will only enhance our weekend activities, not just for the racers, but our fans too”.
During the 2023 race season, Tapley of Poland Spring, Maine served as the race director for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Thunder Road Speedway in Barre, Vermont as well the White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. The return trip to Long Island is a one-off visit for the Islip 300 weekend of events.
After purchasing Riverhead Raceway in the summer of 2015, one of the first orders of business the late Eddie Partridge, his wife Connie & nephew Tom Gatz addressed was the hiring of Scot Tapley to the race director position, a relationship that would last six race seasons.
Saturday November 11th things get rolling early for the Islip 300 program with pits opening at 7:30 am. The hectic day finds the Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds racing for $2,500 to win in the General Welding Supply Inc. 50, joined by the HIGHMARK Building Efficiency 40, a $2,000 to win INEX Legend Race Car event. Complimenting the day are the Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars. The 7th annual Islip 300 will offer the race winner a $7,000 payday and serve as the final leg of the 2023 Crown Jewel Series for the Ted Christopher Cup.
Sunday is another day of hustle and bustle at Riverhead, headlined by the $5,000 to win East & West Pest Control Full Fender Fall Frenzy 200. The inaugural event for Street Stock type cars has drawn driver registrations from across New England, New Jersey & Pennsylvania. Pit gates will open at 9:30 am for a full day of racing that includes Mini Stocks, Bock Auto INEX Bandoleros, Truck Enduro and a 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduro.
Free early registration is available for Tour Type Modifieds for the Islip 300, Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds, INEX Legend Race Cars and Full Fender Fall Frenzy competitors until November 9th, A late entry fee of $150 will be charged after November 9th. Track officials ask race teams to please register as soon as they know their status for the weekend so plenty of tires and parking logistics can be planned for in advance.

Is this a true 300 lap special race, or is it some BS of all the laps of all the events added together? Like three 75 lap features, plus heat races and consis for a “total” of 300?
