Thunder Road Releases 2024 Schedule

The time has come to release the 2024 Schedule of Events for Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl with twenty-one action-packed dates on tap throughout the upcoming year. The 65th season for the Nation’s Site of Excitement will see the return of iconic events, including the 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank, visits from the American-Canadian Tour, Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, Pro All Stars Series, New England Supermodified Series and SRX Series with a sprinkling of fan-favorite events throughout the year!

The season will kick-off with the annual car show at the track on Saturday, May 4 followed by the 26th annual Community Bank N.A. 150 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) on Sunday, May 5. The month of May will conclude with the 61st Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday the 28th with the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series returning for the third-annual Granite City 100. The 61st Memorial Day Classic 125 for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models will also start a new Triple Crown series for Thunder Road’s top division. 

The Late Model Triple Crown will also include the 45th Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 presented by the Vermont Lottery on Thursday, June 22 and conclude with the return of the Firecracker 100 on Sunday, July 7.  

McGee Hyundai of Barre brings us the annual Friday Night Special on June 7 to begin weekly racing with a visit from the New England Supermodified Series (NESS). Casella Waste Management Night on Thursday, June 13 brings a visit from the New England Antique Racers and the 10th annual Marvin Johnson Memorial non-winners race for the rk Miles Street Stocks. June wraps up with Scouts Night, Kids Rides and the first Myers Container Service Flying Tiger Triple Crown event on Thursday, June 27.  

The Myers Container Triple Crown continues on July 11 and wraps up with the Cody Chevrolet/Cadillac 100 on Thursday, August 22. Cody Night will be a doubleheader for the Tigers as the 100-lap finale is also the second of three events in the new ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series. White Mountain Motorsports Park in New Hampshire and Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway are also hosting the ACT Tri-State series.

As previously announced, the SRX Series is making its grand debut at Thunder Road on Thursday, July 18 to celebrate ‘Vermont Strong’ in the wake of July’s historic and devastating flooding. The Times Argus Midseason Championships return on July 25 with Double Points and the FloRacing Double Purse on the line.

The jam-packed month of August also begins with a pair of fan-favorites starting with the Port-a-Potty Grand Prix on Thursday, August 1 during WDEV/Calkins Portable Toilets night. Thunder Road celebrates the 40th annual Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 and Street Stock Special 50-lapper on Sunday, August 4 before Community College of Vermont presents the 6th annual Road Warrior Challenge on Thursday, August 8. The Street Stock Triple Crown also returns in 2024, contested on these first three events for the top four-cylinder masters in early August.

Vermont Tire & Service brings the Kid’s Poster Contest and FloRacing Double Purse back on August 15 while Jet Service Envelope and Accura Printing round out Thursday night racing with the always popular Run-What-U-Brung spectator drags on August 29.

Sunday, September 1 features the 46th Labor Day Classic 200 presented by NEFCU/VSECU for the American-Canadian Tour which will also include a visit from the New England Pro-4 Modifieds for the first time in many years. The 65th championship season wraps up on Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Championship Night on Friday, September 13 with the Maplewood/Irving Late Model King of the Road, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger and rk Miles Street Stock champions crowned.

The 2024 season wraps up with the 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. Starting with Booth Bros./Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying on Saturday, October 5 will feature Late Model, Flying Tiger and Street Stock Milk Bowl qualifying along with a visit from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models and the NESS Supermodifieds.

Sunday, October 6 features ‘The Toughest Short Track Race in North America,’ the $100,000 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank for the American-Canadian Tour and Maplewood/Irving Late Models. The annual showcase of New England’s brightest stars will battle against the northeast’s toughest track for the guaranteed $12,000 payday, the chance to have one’s name etched forever in Barre granite and to kiss a beautiful Vermont dairy cow!

Along with the 2024 schedule of events, officials have also released 2024 Season Pass information. With the SRX Event included in the season passes for 2024, Gold, reserved seating, Season Pass will be available for $395, Adult General Admission season pass is $350 and the Child season pass, for those 6-12 years old is $100 for the season. 2024 license forms and rule books have also been released by the Barre, Vermont office.
