ACT Announces New Tri-State Flying Tiger Series

(Press Release from American-Canadian Tour)

After several years of continued growth for the famed Flying Tiger division at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl and White Mountain Motorsports Park, American-Canadian Tour Officials have announced a new Tri-State Series for the top support division. The Tri-State Flying Tiger Series will visit Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in its inaugural 2024 season, the first time the Tigers have hit the touring circuit in over a decade.

The Flying Tiger class is one of the oldest in the Northeast, originally starting as the ‘B’ Class beneath the Flathead Coupes at Thunder Road in 1965. The division returned to prominence in 1982 under the leadership of Ken Squier and Tom Curley to revitalize a dilapidated Thunder Road after a half-decade of court battles and decline through the end of the ‘70s into the early 1980’s. Ever since, the iconic division has remained a fan-favorite at Thunder Road and grown in spades as the top support division at White Mountain.

Both ACT-Sanctioned tracks will host the Tri-State Series in 2024 starting on Sunday, May 19 at White Mountain Motorsports Park alongside the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 150, PASS Mods and the New England Supermodified Series (NESS). The season-opener also counts as Race #1 in the Central Asphalt Paving Triple Crown at New Hampshire’s Favorite Short Track!

The Tri-State Series heads to Vermont’s Thunder Road in August for the Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac 100 on Thursday, August 22. The Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac 100 is also the championship event for the Myers Container Service Triple Crown at the Nation’s Site of Excitement.

What started out as a non-point, just-for-fun trip to Oxford Plains Speedway over the last several years will now see a championship crowned for the Tri-State Flying Tiger Series on Saturday, October 19 with the Vacationland 75, part of PASS 400 weekend at the historic Maine oval.

“We’ve been thinking about bringing back a Tiger Tour for some time and it looks like the support is there to finally give it a go,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “When we announced we were considering it at Oxford this past October, the teams were all excited, making the decision that much easier.”

The ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series will contest extra-distance events for the popular support division in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine throughout the 2024 racing season. The American-Canadian Tour schedule is available online, along with 2024 license applications and full-season entry forms as teams and officials prepare for the upcoming season. Sponsorship opportunities for the ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series are also available, contact the ACT office for more information.
