STAFFORD – Travis Hydar closed out the 2023 racing season at Stafford Speedway with a victory in the final Street Stock event of the season.
Hydar’s hope coming into the season was to carry that momentum from 2023 into 2024.
Hydar did just that in dominating fashion, in the process climbing to the top of the track’s all-time Street Stock win list.
Hydar, of Woodbury, started on the pole and led every lap, cruising easily to victory in the 20-lap Street Stock feature at the NAPA Spring Sizzler Saturday at Stafford Speedway.
“It’s been a long time since I started on the pole,” Hydar said. “The only thing I could think of was not look in the mirror. The car was really good. It just kept getting better toward the end. I just kept riding it out.”
It was the 20th career victory in the division for Hydar, which tied him with Kyle Casagrande at the top of the Street Stock all-time win list at Stafford.
“It feels really good,” said Hydar, the 2022 Street Stock champion at Stafford. “I really really really wanted to pick up where we left off. We won [the final race of the season] last year and I really wanted to win the Sizzler just to keep that ball moving. I’m super stoked to be tied for the all-time wins. Just have to get one more.”
Travis Downey of Barkhamstead was second and Tyler Trott of East Hartford third.
Matt Clement of Wethersfield won the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. Adrien Paradis III of Plainville was second and Jeremy Lavoie of Windsor Locks was third.
