Corey LaJoie confirmed Thursday that he will part way with the NASCAR Cup Series Spire Motorsports team following the 2024 season.
In a statement to The Athletic LaJoie said: “I won’t be driving the 7 car next year. I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series.
“This chapter ends after Phoenix and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.”
LaJoie has been with Spire since the start of the 2021 season. He had two top-five’s and three top-10’s with an average finish of 20.8 for the team in 2022. He sits 28th in the Cup Series points this season with just one top-five/top-10 finish.
The team recently hired championship winning crew chief Rodney Childers to head the No. 7 team at Spire in 2025.
LaJoie is the son of two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and Norwalk native Randy LaJoie and the grandson of New England short track racing legend Don LaJoie.

Everyone saw this one coming
Maybe Kyle Busch ends up there. He is disappointed with his performance at RCR, and don’t forget Spire was the ones who bought his Truck Team and Chassis shop. Busch and Childers would be a potent combination.
The only full time cup driver that has never won in cup, xfinity or trucks. Shouldn’t be racing at the cup level anyways.
