Since 2017 Amanda West has been chasing a victory in the SK Light Modified division at Stafford Speedway.
Friday that quest was finally achieved for the Colchester veteran.
West held off Josh Morrison over the closing laps to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford Speedway.
It was the first career victory in the division for West. The 24-year old made her first start in the division in 2017 and has been racing full-time in the division since 2018. She was making her 116th start in the division on Friday.
“This has been a long time coming,” West said. “We’ve been doing this for like [eight] years. We’re long overdue. It feels good to be here. I’m emotional. I’ve just got to give it all to my crew for sticking with me all these years. My dad most importantly. He’s been my rock behind me since I was four years old in Go-Karts. This feels awesome. They say there’s nothing like your first win so I’ll remember this for a long time.”
Morrison, of Ashford, was second and Nickolas Hovey of Chaplin third.
Darrell Keane of Enfield topped the 30-lap Late Model feature.
Andrew Durand of Chicopee, Mass. was second and Adam Gray of Belchertown, Mass third.
Tyler Trott of East Hartford won the 20-lap Street Stock feature. Jason Lafayette of Somers was second and Jason Raymond of Somers third.
Kevin Cormier of Agawam, Mass. won the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. Jeremy Lavoie of Windsor Locks was second and R.J. Surdell of Willington was third.

Aloha Amanda,
Congratulations to you and your team. What a great run.
The whole crowd seemed to be rooting for her. Probably one of the biggest cheers for her in victory lane. Crongrats to Amanda and her team. I love to see first time winners. Probably. one of the best parts of this sport.
Great night at the track. Everything was done by around 10. 2 first time winners. A modified race with some differing strategies. Well done Stafford.
