STAFFORD – Over the second half of the 2024 racing season at Stafford Speedway there have been some who have been critical of SK Modified driver Andrew Molleur.
Molleur has been atop the SK Modified division point standings for much of the season at Stafford, but some have criticized him for apparently being too conservative on the track during features.
Saturday at the NAPA Fall Final the Shelton driver sent a message.
Molleur scored his second victory of the season, in dominant fashion, in the 40-lap SK Modified feature.
“I can’t even tell you the amount of people that came up to me during the pit party and said ‘Stop points racing, use the bumper.’” Molleur said. “Well, we won the race without using the bumper. How about that for points racing?”
David Arute of Stafford was second and Teddy Hogdon IV of Danbury was third.
Molleur, who is in his first season driving for the Petty Cash Motorsports team, is looking for his first SK Modified title at the track. He will take a 32-point lead over second place Mike Christopher Jr. into the final event of the season on Oct. 4. Christopher is the only driver who can catch Molleur.
“We’ve struggled pretty bad the last couple of weeks.” Molleur said. “… Everybody on this team, they have worked their butts off. … Damn this feels good.”
