STAFFORD – There was little drama left Friday when it came to the SK Light Modified standings at Stafford Speedway.
After a dominant season, Tyler Chapman came into the night galaxies ahead of his pursuers in the standings.
But that didn’t mean the Ellington driver didn’t make clinching his first championship at the track dramatic.
Chapman passed Chris Matthews for the lead on the frontstretch coming to the checkered flag and won in a photo finish in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.
It was ninth feature win of the season for Chapman, who clinched his first SK Light Modified title at the track with two events still remaining on the schedule.
Matthews, of Stafford, was second and Meghan Fuller of Auburn, Mass. was third.
Adam Gray of Belchertown, Mass. won for the second consecutive week in the 30-lap Late Model feature.
Bobby Stirk of Naugatuck was second and Tom Butler of Stafford third.
Rich Hammann of Tolland scored victory in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.
It was the third victory of the season for Hammann.
Devon Jencik of Canton was second and Adrien Paradis III of Plainville was third.
Travis Hydar of Woodbury drove away on a green-white-checkered finish to win the 20-lap Street Stock feature.
It was the 10th points race win of the season for Hydar and his 11th overall at the track in 2024.
Bert Ouellette of Ellington was second and Tyler Trott of East Hartford third.
