In 2024 one of the biggest surprises on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the performance and strength of the first-year Rich Gautreau owned No. 1 team with veteran driver Patrick Emerling. With crew chief Dale Hedquist leading the way for the first year operation, Emerling ended up winning three races, battled at the top of the standings for much of the year and ended up third overall in the final series standings.
In 2025 the team, now owned by the Emerling family, will once again go chasing after a Whelen Modified Tour title, and they could be expanding their horizons away to the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series and some other events.
Rumors have circulated that the team may also run full-time with the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series. Emerling, who also will run select events on the NASCAR Xfinity Series, said nothing is finalized as of yet, but the possibility does exist that the team could chase a title on the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series.
Asked if he the team has plans to run the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series full-time Emerling said: “We will be interested in running some of the Open show races. It’s just our schedule isn’t defined because of a lot of other stuff like sponsorships for national series type stuff. But when it works and makes sense we definitely have an interest in pursuing those races, but that’s not completely defined yet. Maybe as we kind of get closer to the season we’ll know a little bit more.”
