So what’s brewing?
Well the big news today is that Haydt-Yannone Racing team with driver Ron Silk will not be running full-time in 2025 on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Is it a surprise? Yeah. A total shock? Not so much. Rumors have swirled since the end of the 2024 season that the team might not run full-time in 2025.
On Thursday night Silk made that news official when he told RaceDayCT that the team would be skipping five events on the Whelen Modified Tour schedule in 2025.
There’s certainly been a lot of very nice positive publicity surrounding the Whelen Modified Tour since last October when it was announced the series would see increased purses and increased points payouts in 2025 along with some nice bonuses for new teams joining the series. And it’s stuff like that which should be getting the positivity it has garnered for the series.
But, but, but … let’s be frank here, the decision by Haydt-Yannone Racing to go part-time in 2025 shines a glowing light on a big issue facing the series. And it’s not like it’s one that has come as a surprise to anyone around the tour.
