Justin Bonsignore Looks For Record Tying Day At Thompson Speedway Icebreaker

Thompson Speedway has always been one of Justin Bonsignore’s best tracks. 

As the four-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion heads back north this weekend for the Icebreaker 150 on Sunday, he has the opportunity to continue to add to his already stout Thompson legacy.  

With a victory in Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Icebreaker 150, Bonsignore would tie the great Mike Stefanik for the most Tour wins at the Connecticut track – 15. 

He’s coming off a third-place finish in the opener of the 2025 season back on February 8 at New Smyrna Speedway in the No. 51 Phoenix Communications machine.

“Thompson is a place that I’ve always felt comfortable,” Bonsignore said. “Our Kenneth Massa Motorsports team has unloaded some incredible cars there over the years, which always makes the job a lot easier. Within the first few laps of practice, I know whether or not we have what we need in the feel of the car to contend for the win. It feels like it’s been forever since New Smyrna, a day where we had a tough race, but still got a solid finish. That’s what you need to do in a long season to be there at the end.”

Sunday’s Icebreaker 150 schedule includes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 12:20-12:50 p.m., followed by a final practice from 1:15-1:45 p.m. Qualifying will take place at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Icebreaker 150 at 4:30 p.m.
