THOMPSON – It’s not uncommon these days across the Northeast to see Jake Johnson running up front and winning in big Modified events.
But Wednesday night at Thompson the Rehoboth, Mass. driver put the Open Wheeled rides aside for the night and got back to his roots of full-bodied racing.
Johnson drove away with victory in the 25-lap Late Model feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway.
“We definitely had a great car,” Johnson said. “I’ve got to thank everyone at Hartwell Motorsports. There’s a lot of people behind the scenes that put this whole deal together, building this new car. The results showed for it today.”

Nickolas Hovey of Chaplin won the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature. John O’Sullivan of Salem was second and Robert Bloxsom III of Stratford was third.
