Six-time NASCAR Modified Tour champion Doug Coby will return to racing after nearly a year away from the track.
Coby is on the entry list to compete for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the NASCAR Modified Tour Mohegan Sun 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
It will mark the first start in any sort of race for Coby since he competed in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series NAPA Fall Final at Stafford Speedway on Sept. 28, 2024. He finished 23rd driving for Tinio Racing in that event.
“I’m excited to do it at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and it’s actually my 40th year racing and I want to keep the streak going, it’s a cool milestone,” Coby said in a release. “It’s been 40 years in a row of racing something competitive… definitely fired up to be racing with Tommy and his team.”
Coby’s last NASCAR Modified Tour start came driving for Tommy Baldwin Racing at Thompson Speedway on Aug. 14, 2024. He finished 16th in that event.
“We’re getting the band back together with Doug in the 7NY,” team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. said. “When we have raced with Doug in the past, we’ve always had a good opportunity to get to Victory Lane. There is no one better for us to have behind the wheel with Luke committed elsewhere. With his experience at New Hampshire and our newer PSR Chassis that has only one race on it, we are confident.”
Coby ran the 2024 NASCAR Modified Tour event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for Baldwin. Oil leak issues relegated Coby to a 28th place finish in that event on June 22, 2024.
Coby has 38 NASCAR Modified Tour starts at NHMS dating back to 2003. He has four wins and 14 top-five’s at the track.
There are 27 cars on the NASCAR Modified Tour entry list for Saturday’s 9:15 am event at NHMS.

No Luke in the car? Hope he’s ok, I must have missed something.
Bobf,
SMART Tour is running on Saturday. Luke is leading the points on the series.
Thanks Shawn.
Did Coby step back or he couldn’t find a ride? Unbelievable talent. Modified racing is better with him like or not. Hirshman effect.
On another note: you can’t say nascar is trying to promote the mods when you are starting a race before 10 am. Nascar doesn’t give two craps about the series. Yea let’s throw a little money In the purse to bring drivers back. The mods would be better off with a world of outlaw type organization. The open series type format is better.
Wear your longjohns Saturday morning! It’s gonna be chilly! 🥶
I’m so happy. I can’t remember. Is it Dug Kolby? It’s been a while
