When it comes to the Connecticut short track racing scene, most fans are used to seeing Jacob Perry on the track in a Tour Type Modified.
Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, after all the Modifieds were put away for the day at the big track, it was Perry celebrating on the dirt of the Flat Track at NHMS.
Perry, of Pawcatuck, won the 25-lap Xtreme Dirt Midget Association feature Friday at the Sig Sauer Academy Dirt Duels on the NHMS Flat Track.
“Technically this is my home dirt crowd I guess,” Perry said. “I grew up on the mini-mile running the Bandalero’s down in turn one and two. So this is pretty damn cool. This is our first dirt Midget win. And this is like our seventh or eighth start. Pretty damn cool to do it in front of the home crowd here at Loudon, packed house. And be able to rip the top. I love coming to real race tracks.”
Perry passed reigning series champion Brandon Piastka with 17-laps remaining and went to score the $3,000 first place prize for the win.
