THOMPSON – Matt Lowinski-Loh used a high-side run off of the final corner to move past Jacob Burns for the lead and win the 50-lap Late Model feature Wednesday at Thompson Speedway.

It was the first victory of the season at Thompson for Lowinski-Loh, of Milford, Mass.

Burns, of East Greenwich, R.I., was second and Brian Tagg of Oxford, Mass. third.

Jake Johnson took control out front at the start.

Caution flew on lap three when Emma Monahan, running near the back of the field made heavy contact with the inside frontstretch wall.

Caution returned almost immediately after the restart for a four car incident in turn one involving Doug Curry, Michael Rotundo, Adam Pettey and Zack Robinson.

On the ensuing restart it was Johnson quickly checking out from second place Tagg.

With Johnson leading, Lowinski-Loh in second and Burns in third, caution flew for the third time on lap 24.

Lowinski-Loh was able to overtake Johnson for the lead on the restart, but Johnson fought back and was making a move for the lead when caution flew again on lap 27 for the stopped car of Rotundo.

On the ensuing restart Lowinski-Loh drove Johnson up the hill in turn two, allowing Burns to the low lane to make for a three-car battle for the top spot. The action was short-lived though. A hard wreck by Curry in turn one brought the caution back out on lap 28.

On the lap 28 restart Lowinski-Loh and Johnson went side-by-side for the lead with Johnson leading to complete the lap. But on lap 29 it was Burns using the low lane off of turn two to overtake both Johnson and Lowinkski-Loh and move to the lead, with Brody Monahan following to second. Johnson slotted in at third.

With Burns leading, Monahan in second and Johnson third, caution flew again on lap 40. A four car wreck in turn two on the restart brought the caution right back out. Under caution Johnson went to pit road and restarted in ninth.

Burns got a quick jump on Monahan at the front following the restart. Caution return on lap 47 for the stopped car of Monahan in turn four.

It set up a restart with Burns leading, Lowinski-Loh in second, Tagg in third and Johnson fourth.

At the green flag for the lap 47 restart, Burns was slow to go, allowing Lowinski-Loh to jump into the lead.

On lap 48 Burns found the lane under Lowinski-Loh in turn four and the two leaned on each other down the frontstretch. Burns was able to back to the lead on lap 49. But on lap 50 Lowinski-Loh got to the outside of Burns. Lowinski-Loh used the long away around through the fourth turn, using the outside lane to pass Burns and win the drag race to the checkered flag.
