LOUDON, N.H. – The focus of the battle for the 2025 NASCAR Modified Tour championship is the fight at the top of the standings between Austin Beers and Justin Bonsignore.

But third place Craig Lutz and fourth place Matt Hirschman remain in the hunt with three races remaining.

Hirschman is still there thanks to a feisty battle back from a deep starting spot in Saturday’s Mohegan Sun 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Hirschman came from the 25th starting spot to finish fifth in Saturday’s event at NHMS. Hirschman sits 25 points behind Beers in the series standings. Bonsignore is seven points behind Beers and Lutz is 23 off the lead.

Saturday’s race was Hirschman first NASCAR Modified Tour start in Loudon since 2014.

“Yeah, pretty much survival out there,” Hirschman said. “We managed to do that and ended up fifth. So, we came a long way from where we started [in practice and qualifying on Friday] and even this morning to where we ended up. Pleased with everybody’s effort. We still had room to gain.

“We didn’t have the speed we needed to really contend. But like I said, this race here, it’s been a long time since I’ve been here, but it can be a matter of survival. And it gets pretty wild.”

“It wasn’t really any fun out there for me, kind of just trying to dodge wrecks and get the car to the finish. So, we’ll take a fifth and finish out.”

Seuss Surprises With Fourth

Former NASCAR Southern Modified Tour champion Andy Seuss grabbed a fourth place finish in the Mohegan Sun 100.

“It sure was a different kind of race, but since the moment we unloaded we showed a lot of speed. It was a long adverse day … but the car just drove great. We had some restarts that didn’t work, then some restarts that did go our way and back and forth. But it’s just so hard.

“This series is so competitive, and it means so much to me. Being a fan of it growing up, just getting the first opportunity to come here. It’s really hard to show up part time on these. So, to come away with a top five is damn good.”

  1. The 60 was simply not that fast on the big boy race track. The 60 has one more skidpad track left in the season.

There are 13-14 really good cars in the bottom half of the finishing order that had troubles and suffered some form of attrition, either out of the race or went down laps. The 60 moved up in the finishing order because of all that attrition. If all those really good cars would have finished without problems, the 60 would have been lucky to break into the top 15.
