THOMPSON – Jake Johnson has garnered plenty of attention in recent years for his success in big events behind the wheel of. Tour Type Modified ride.
But Rehoboth, Mass. driver is also pretty stout when it comes to piloting a fendered ride.
He proved that in a big way in 2025 at Thompson Speedway.
Johnson rolled to a runaway victory in the 25-lap Late Model feature Friday at the Sunoco World Series at Thompson.
It was Johnson’s fourth victory in seven events this year driving for Hartwell Motorsports.
“The Hartwell Motorsports crew, they just did a great job with this car,” Johnson said. “They really took their time putting it together and it’s truly something special. To win the championship for these guys means the world. … A great group of guys and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else. Just an honor to be here.”
Jacob Burns of East Greenwich, R.I. was second and Brian Tagg of Oxford, Mass. third.
Ryan Lineham of Hope Valley, R.I. won the 50-lap R&R Street Stock Open feature.
Jason Woodward was second and Austin Erickson third.
Ryan Pomposelli of Smithfield, R.I. won the 15-lap Mini Stock feature.
Andrew Krzemiński of East Hampton was second. Dave Trudeau of Mansfield used a third place finish to clinch the Mini Stock championship.

Way to go Jake! Awesome job and awesome car. Must have been cool to watch your Dad in spin cycle out there against the wall. He may want to get some more practice in that 15ma or leave the driving to you.
