THOMPSON – The Thompson Speedway oval will be active in 2026, once again under the operating control of the partnership of Cris Michaud and Tom Mayberry.

While all details concerning the 2026 schedule have yet to be solidified, Michaud confirmed to competitors Saturday at the Sunoco World Series that the operating team will return next year.

Michaud told RaceDayCT to expect a similar schedule in 2026 to what the operators put on in 2025.

The Michaud/Mayberry operating group had a schedule in 2025 that included the traditional Icebreaker in April and Sunoco World Series weekends along with five Wednesday events from May to September. The 2025 schedule included three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events and two Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series races. Today’s schedule at the track also includes the first appearance at the track for the Race Of Champions Series for the 75th Annual Race Of Champions 150.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series are both expected to return to the track for multiple events in 2026.

Michaud is co-owner of the American-Canadian Tour, Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt and White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H. Mayberry owns the Pro All-Stars Series and Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Me.

Michaud and Mayberry first teamed up to put on a September Whelen Modified Tour event and the Sunoco World Series in 2020 at Thompson. Those were the only two events run on the oval at Thompson during the 2020 season.

Track ownership had originally intended to operate the oval in 2020, but opted out of that plan after COVID shutdowns began in the spring. Michaud and Mayberry came to an agreement with ownership in mid-summer of 2020 to put on two events that year. The pair has operated events at the oval track – running at least six events each year – since 2021.
