Official: American Racer Announces NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Deal



As reported by RaceDayCT on December 24, 2025, American Racer will take over as the official tire supplier for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2026. 

American Racer and NASCAR made the decision public for the first time on Thursday afternoon. 

Hoosier had been the exclusive tire provider for the Whelen Modified Tour since the 1999 season.

The 2026 Whelen Modified Tour kicks off on Feb. 7 at New Smyrna Speedway

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour series director Gary Putnam alerted teams privately on December 24 of the decision to make the change. NASCAR had not made any public announcement concerning the change until Thursday. 

American Racer also announced that they will sponsor the American Racer Pole Award on the series, which will pay $1,500 to each Whelen Modified Tour pole winner. American Racer will also sponsor the division’s Hard Charger Award, which will pay $1,000 at each event to the driver that advances the most positions from their starting spot. American Racer will also award three sets of tires to teams after each event. One set will go to a random team drawn from finishers between 10th and 25th at each event. Another set will be award to the highest finishing new team on the series. A third set will be awarded to the team winning the American Racer Hard Luck Award, which will be voted on by the media. 

NASCAR held a Whelen Modified Tour tire test with American Racer on Nov. 5 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, Pa. On Dec. 3 NASCAR held a second offseason tire test for American Racer tires at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Fla.
