The bread and butter of weekly Connecticut short track racing is the SK Modified division.
Last week we asked you the readers to put together the top-10 list of the greatest SK Modified drivers of all-time.
After a week of voting, 485 people chimed in with their rankings and we have the final list as decided by you the readers.
Before we get to the list I’ll offer some of my reactions. The results of this list don’t come close to what I had expected to see.
- The fact that 47 people submitted a list of their top-10 SK Modified drivers and their list did not include Ted Christopher as one of those 10 drivers is absolutely baffling and mind boggling to me.
- The fact that Dennis Gada, a seven-time SK Modified champion at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, and the second winningest SK Modified driver of all time at the Speedbowl, ended up 14th on the reader list is shocking to me.
Below is the list after the voting. Below that list I’ll put my own personal top-10 followed by the full results of the voting from the poll.

I agree about Dennis Gada
Bob potter should be at the top also and I know it’s not so much sk’s but if you added in weekly racing series through throughout the years, George (Moose)Hewitt should’ve been right up there also
Shawn, any idea what the order would be statistically ?
Seekonk Fan,
Stats for Stafford and Waterford are very easily sourced (Stafford web page and Speedbowl history page). Stats for Thompson are a bit tougher to compile.
Are you people for real// Not for nothing but Rocco stats speak for them self’s he should be at the top or hands down. Second 18 championships at three tracks 9 state titles in a row a national championship an second three times are you freaking kidding me who votes on this blind mice
