An expected one-week fill-in role for Andrew Molleur has turned into a full-time ride for the rest of the 2026 season.
Molleur, the 2024 SK Modified champion at Stafford, will drive the No. 11 Hummel Motorsports SK Modified at Stafford for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Molleur will take over the seat in the Hummel Motorsports ride for Matt Vassar, who was injured during an event at Stafford on June 5 and is expected to be unable to compete for an undetermined amount of time.
“I know they have great equipment,” Molleur said. “[Crew chief Ed Flemke Jr.] is extremely smart. And I mean, to have the guy who builds the race car also [as the crew chief], that’s a big plus. I think he’s the best guy for the job to work on that car. So, you know, he’s very knowledgeable and been around the sport his whole life.”
Molleur was set to run the Hummel car in a one-race deal on June 12 at Stafford before that event was rained out. Molleur ran the Tour Type Modified NAPA Spring Sizzler for the team on April 26, and is expected to make more starts for the team in Open Modified events this year.
“To drive for John Hummel is pretty awesome as well because, you know, my father’s relationship with John and Eddie goes way back from when my dad started racing Modifieds. So, it’s pretty cool to connect with these guys after so many years of just being friends with them. To be able to drive their cars is a real honor. I mean, even just getting to drive their Open car has been a blast. And, you know, we’ve been learning a lot and trying to improve that program with them these last few months. And hopefully we can do some more races with them in that car too.”
Molleur, who competes full-time for Danny Watts Racing on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, will have one conflict when the Modified Tour runs on Friday July 10 at Claremont Speedway.
