STAFFORD – For 14 laps Marcello Rufrano looked on the way to his first victory at Stafford Motor Speedway Friday.

Then Tyler Trott decided to show a closing kick.

Trott used a last lap pass to go by Rufrano and win the 15-lap DARE Stock feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

It was the second consecutive victory for Trott, of East Hartford, and his third victory of the season for Trott.

Rufrano led every lap but the final circuit.

“I didn’t think I had anything for [Rufrano],” Trott said. “He ran a good race. He kept his nose out of trouble. I started reeling him in toward the end and he was getting a little free and I just made my move.”

Trace Beyer of West Dover, Vt. was second and Rufrano, of North Haven, third.

Justin Bren of Palmer, Mass. ran away with his first victory of the season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.

Kelsey Rottino of Willimantic was second and Austin Bessette of Stafford third.

Cory DiMatteo of Farmington edged Noah Korner of Canton at the line to win the 20-lap Legends feature.

Dana DiMatteo of Farmington was third.

Payton Henry of Willington won the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Tony Membrino Jr. of Plantsville was second and D.J. Burnham of East Hartford third.
